Pumps

The E/One progressive cavity grinder pump is the heart of the pressure sewer system that can eliminate costly lift stations.

The robust design translates into the industry’s highest levels of reliability and maintainability.  E/One pumps are designed to run to failure with no preventative maintenance required.  The tank is accepted and used in high head wastewater applications when solids are present.  It is capable of achieving high head with a nearly consistent flow rate.

Key elements to consider when selecting a pump:

  • Hydraulic performance (head and flow capacity)

  • Reliability and field track record

  • Initial costs

  • Operating and maintenance costs

  • Serviceability

  • Preventative maintenance requirements and the ease of installation.

E/One utilities a proprietary EDPM stator compound specifically designed for durability.  The grinder pump has documented field performance and is ANSI/NSF 46 certified.  No other pump in Australia carries this specification

Benefits:

  • Capable of generating high head

  • Ensures scouring velocities are maintained

  • Simplified hydraulic design

  • Reduces operational risk

  • Large diameter grinder resists jamming

  • High starting torque powers through debris

  • Non-contact level sensing ensures reliability

  • Positive displace pump design universally accepted for wastewater

  • Product certified by third parties and independent evaluation of performance is available.

The semi-positive displacement characteristic (SPD) of the E/One grinder pump means that the flow from the pump is nearly constant, no matter the force of the back pressure.  In practical terms, in a pressure sewer system, it means that when a pump is turned “on”, it will deliver a useful amount of flow into the system, no matter where it happens to be within its allowable range of operating pressure.  The flow volume will be, for all practical purposes, independent of pressure in the system.  The maximum pressure may temporarily exceed the steady state normal rating by up to 50 percent with no harm to the pump or piping.

Grinding Performance

The E/One grinder pump utilises the largest diameter grinder on the market (130mm vs 63mm).  The large diameter grinder decreases the inlet velocity and prevents binding and jamming.  The grinder utilises low speed and high torque and is less likely to jam, bind or suffocate. The blade does not require sharpness to function properly and is a true macerator opposed to a slicer.

Independent Testing

Independent lab testing showed that the presence of abrasives is uncommon.  A presence of high concentration indicates abuse of the system.  E/One pumps are commonly used in coastal areas without any issues.

Grinder Pump Design Features

  • 25 year design life with no preventative maintenance

  • Dual O-Ring Seals provides simple assembly and rugged protection against water infiltration and corrosion

  • Air Cooled Design eliminates environmental risk of leaking oil and maintenance disposal

  • Capacitive start motor generates high torque during start-up to prevent jamming.  Permanent split capacitor designs create low torque and are susceptible to jamming

  • Starting controls (capacitor, contactor, switches, etc.) are incorporated in pump (vs. panel) which minimises heat and  voltage drop

  • E/One pump utilises the largest diameter grinder on market (~130 mm vs 63 mm)

  • Large diameter decreases inlet velocity & prevents binding & jamming

  • Low speed & high torque grinder is less likely to jam, bind or suffocate

  • Does not require sharpness to function properly and is a true macerator as opposed to a slicer

  • E/One’s stainless steel discharge ball valve won’t corrode.  No corrosion, no maintenance, no tools required.

Operation and Maintenance

No preventative maintenance is required or recommended.  The pump is highly serviceable and built to be easily serviced. Many pumps operate for more than the stated 25 year design life.  Actual customer data reveals a 10 year mean time between service calls.  Actual data reveals $70 per annum to maintain.
